Delivery & Pick-up


Free In-store Pick up!

  • Book orders placed before 12 will be available for pick up after 2PM.  Orders placed after 12pm will be available for pick up the next day.
  • September is a busy time, and your order may not be processed immediately.  Stock levels and availability are subject to change. Customers will be notified if any items are unavailable.
  • You will receive an e-mail notification when your books are available for pick up.

Delivery

If you live in the Ottawa-Gatineau area, we will deliver your books to your place of residence, next day starting at $4.99* (* + tax. Some limitations do apply). Please see the chart below to determine which delivery area you are in.

To order your books online

Simply find them through our textbook search engine or general book search engine and add them to our easy-to-use basket. Pick-up and shipping options will be presented to you during the check-out process.

If you order your book(s) now, when will they arrive?

  • *All orders placed Monday to Thursday will be delivered to the delivery address between 12 PM and 5 PM the following day**.
  • *Orders placed on Fridays or during weekends will be delivered during the next business day delivery window, generally the following Monday except in cases of holidays (i.e. 12 PM and 5 PM**).

What if you live outside of the predetermined delivery areas or cannot be home during the normal delivery window?

If you live outside of the Ottawa-Gatineau region covered by our usual delivery service, or would like to request a different delivery window, please contact our shipping staff, 613-562-4672, freight@agorabookstore.ca.

The delivery price will be calculated by staff according to the address for delivery, the weight of the package, area for delivery, as well as time of delivery. An employee will confirm pricing of delivery before charging you.

When ordering online, you can also choose to have the books set aside for in-store pick-up. This option is free and will allow you to skip any possible line-ups at the cash.

  • *Any orders that cannot be put into a bag or box of average size or are over the weight limit (i.e. too many items on the order, order over 15lbs) will be subject to an additional charge. Customers will be contacted in this event; however, we will not wait for confirmation and items will leave within the normal shipping window.
  • *Items ordered online are subject to the normal and current Agora returns policy. Please click here to read the full return policy. You will be provided with an original receipt with your order.
  • ** No cancellation is possible after 12 PM on the day delivery is scheduled.
  • **Once an online order is placed for delivery it is your responsibility to ensure that the delivery address has been entered correctly and that someone will be available at the delivery address to accept delivery and sign for your order during the delivery window.

Most deliveries can be left without a signature if requested by the customer in the comments of an order (in a mailbox, between screen and front door, etc.)  It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure that a suitable place is available for the delivery person to leave the package if he/she will not be available during the delivery window.  In the case of such a request, the delivery becomes the customer’s responsibility from the moment it is picked-up by the Agora’s courrier of choice for delivery to this customer.

  • **Should the delivery address not be entered properly, and should the order be delivered to the incorrect address as a result, the Agora takes no responsibility for the loss of these items. It will be the customer’s responsibility to arrange to retrieve these items or to get ordered items back to the Agora in perfect condition (for refund) or to pay for a second order. No refunds will be issued without the items being returned in perfect condition, and no second orders will be sent out without receiving second payment.
  • **Should the delivery fail for any reason, your order will have to be returned to the store and you will be charged for this return trip (same price as original delivery). Your order will then be converted to a pick-up order and held for one week (7 days from start of delivery day). Should you not present yourself to claim your order within one week; you will be refunded the price of the ordered items but not the delivery and return charges.
